Welcome to the Blog!
Let's celebrate the crown jewel of Bingham Park, the Ellingsen Bandstand, located in Wayne County, Hawley Pennsylvania!
The blog intends to document the history of this small-town bandstand and celebrate the culture and community that surrounds it. It serves as a platform for fans to share stories and photos of time spent and fun had in the park that encircles the bandstand... How many of us as kids swung a Little League bat, heard the crack of the ball and ran like the wind to the cheers of a rare home run in the lower field? Sliding into home plate with a cloud of dust, hearing the claps and whooping of the raucous bleacher-standing crowd.
How about elbowing out your siblings to scoop up the most eggs at the annual Easter Egg Hunt? Maybe you only discovered the park as an adult and bring your excited little ones to the amazing CJR playground to their delight. Through this blog we hope to capture the spirit and nostalgia of the bandstand, park and community and inspire its preservation for generations to come. We want to be a place to celebrate the stories, memories, and music that make this bandstand a beloved and long-standing part of town.

Born and raised here and have hundreds of the greatest memories of my time in the park! From my early days participating in the Halloween costume contests, which at that time were held in the bandstand, to the Easter egg hunts, at that time, with real eggs, watching baseball games from the Grandstand, Boy Scout camp, going to silent auctions in the Quonset hut with my dad, flying the frisbee hundreds of hours with friends and family, ice skating (watching), and the best of all memories at the Hawley Block Parties for so many years!!! In later years, helping fund projects with Movies in the Park, and the current playground. Today, as Mayor, I'm honored in attending to special event…
It's my favorite park, I was there with my friend and her kids the other weekend. Lots of kids running around and activity. Walked the perimeter of the park and had a great day.
